Hopefully getting more space

I'm in the process of buying a house. I hope to have at least a small room for a studio but there's a possibility I may get to set up a good size room. It'll have to wait until I get in there to arrange things.

Possibly Schmapped!

Well, one of my photos on Flickr has been short listed on Schmap. I did a quick search and they seem legitimate so what the heck.

The picture they may select is of a red bellied piranha at the Montreal Biodome.

Here's the photo:

Light: Science and Magic: An Introduction to Photographic Lighting

Well, I've ordered:

Light: Science and Magic: An Introduction to Photographic Lighting

from Amazon. This is supposed to be one of the (if not THE) books to get about lighting. Let's hope it sparks some ideas!

I'm in a Juried Art Show!

Ok, well unbeknownst to me 2 of my photos were entered into a Juried Art Competition at forARTSake in Malone.

Apparently, one of the photos was selected for the show.

The funny thing is I don't know what it is!

Anyway, the opening reception is this Friday July 11 from 6pm to 8pm at forARTSake, Main Street, Malone.

My presence is requested.

So, if you have nothing better to do and are in the area stop by and we'll do the High Society thing! ;)

Wireless Triggers

Well, I went ahead and bought some wireless flash triggers from http://www.gadgetinfinity.com an outfit out of Hong Kong. They're cheap and hopefully will be good enough for me as I start out. If I get anywhere then hopefully any money I make can go back into the photo gear.

Nikon SB-28

Well, I just won an eBay auction for a Nikon Sb-28 flash, so I am on my way to becoming a Strobist! I'll try it in conjunction with my Sigma flash and probably some of my old flashes from my film days.

Still need a remote trigger! While the Pocket Wizards would be ideal they're so damn expensive!! Not sure I want to waste money on the cheap Cactus units though!

Yet another blog!

OK, once again I have created a blog! I'm going to use this one to showcase my learning of off camera strobe lighting at Strobist.

Strobist is a great FREE website put out by David Hobby. I encourage everyone interested in off camera strobe (flash) light to go and check it out.

I hope to be posting about my learning process and linking to Flickr photos taken for each of the assignments David puts out.

While I have most of the photo gear necessary for assignments I am still trying to get my hands on some used Nikon flashes and some sort of radio trigger.
